my account and appointments

We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand the individual nature of each patients orthodontic treatment, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve. Your first orthodontic visit will consist of an examination and discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will address your orthodontic needs to determine if this is the proper time to begin treatment.

After we have evaluated your records, we will schedule a consultation to explain all aspects of your treatment in detail. We will provide a complete clinical diagnosis regarding the nature of the problem, a written summary of the findings and a detailed plan that outlines your treatment, goals and fees. We encourage questions from both the patient and the parents and provide ample time to answer your questions.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT WHEN YOUR ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCES ARE PLACED

  • Teeth may feel “bruised” or sore.
  • Teeth may feel loose during treatment. This is normal! If your teeth don’t become loose, we cannot move them into their new position.
  • You may develop mouth sores. This may continue until your cheeks and lips toughen up and get used to the appliances. IT WILL GET BETTER!
  • Speech may be difficult at first. Your lips and tongue need to adjust to your new appliances. Speech will return to normal in a very short period of time.

HOW CAN I HELP?

  • Warm salt water rinses everyday while you are adjusting to your new appliances. This will help toughen up your lips and will feel good to you.
  • You may want to alter your diet to only “soft foods” during your adjustment period. Your ability to enjoy your favorite foods will return – give yourself time. Your adjustment period may take only a few days or it may take a little longer.
  • Over the counter pain relievers are helpful during the first few days of treatment.
  • REMEMBER – WE ARE HERE IF YOU NEED US!

ORAL HYGIENE

Oral hygiene is absolutely critical in maintaining healthy teeth and gums during orthodontic care. Dr. Campbell recommends you see your general dentist every three to four months while in orthodontic treatment. Brushing and flossing need to be a part of your everyday routine.

HOW TO KEEP ON SCHEDULE

  • Maintain good oral hygiene.
  • Pay special attention to the foods you eat.
  • Avoid appliance breakage.
  • Keep your appointments.

APPOINTMENTS

When will my appointments be scheduled? (School Months)

We share your concern about missing school or work and make every effort to see that each patient receives a fair share of convenient appointments. Some appointments, such as putting the braces on or removing them, require considerable time and our undivided attention. For these procedures, it is necessary to schedule during school hours.

Our School-Hour Strategy

While it’s unavoidable that some appointments be scheduled during school hours, we’re glad to work with our patients and parents in that regard. We can often schedule school-hour appointments at times that are less critical to the academic well-being of our young patients. Here are some popular times to schedule:

  • During study hall
  • Through the lunch break
  • During physical education classes
  • During elective classes

School excuses are provided for each appointment.

Managing the Unexpected

Emergency Care: Patients with pain or swelling are seen as soon as possible. In cases involving an accident with trauma to the face or mouth, the patient may be referred to the appropriate specialist for treatment.

Repairs: Please call to arrange an appointment if you have loose bands, brackets, ties, lost/broken appliances or retainers. Repairs and replacement appointments require more time than is available during the busy after-school periods.

Appointments that are broken or not cancelled within 48 hours: Please call us as soon as you become aware that you cannot keep an appointment. The popular, after-school appointments may require a 4-6 week delay in rescheduling. A school-hour appointment can usually be scheduled sooner.

Each missed appointment may prolong the overall treatment time by approximately one month. Appointments are your responsibility. Our automated “House Calls” appointment reminder is a courtesy only.

FINANCIAL/INSURANCE

It is our mission to provide you with affordable, high-quality treatment that fits your budget! We offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs. We thoroughly explain your options, so that we can accommodate your needs. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

We also offer Capital One, Orthodontic Fee Plan, as an outside financing source. You may obtain approval prior to the start of treatment by calling 800-637-3393. Dr. Campbell offers his own payment plan broken down into monthly payments after an initial down payment. We extend a 7% discount for payment in full by cash or check prior to starting treatment and a 4% discount for payment in full by credit card prior to starting treatment.

Our financial options are not based on treatment time but represent a convenient method of budgeting the cost of treatment over a period of time.

Insurance
Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Remember that insurance policies vary, and we will review your plan to determine if you have orthodontic benefits and to determine the appropriate course of action. Once treatment has started, we will file your claims.

To help us file your insurance claim, please complete the insurance section on your questionnaire.

Please remember that orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you or your child. If, during the course of treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.
